be used to dredge the sediment which was deposited by TS Irene in Round Pond.
Our thanks go to the 27 LRA members that took the time on a Saturday morning to
join 8 board members at this important meeting. The proposed project was
approved unanimously by those in attendance. Of the proxy ballots received in
the mail from the membership all but one were in favor.
Following the vote, the wide-ranging discussion covered topics such as
the timing of the project, the need for an on-site overseer, and the estimated
cost. It was agreed that a (non-binding) maximum of $125,000 would be set, with
a further membership meeting held should the board determine this cap needs to
The board will continue with next steps, including the selection of a
contractor and drafting a detailed contract. It is anticipated that the
dredging will occur in the Spring of 2013. We will update the LRA membership as
the project develops
